- Guild Rules FAQ
These guidelines will cover the following areas:
What is Origin?
Origin is a guild formed from the members of Tide, Orion and Legendary. Guilds founded in Everquest and World of Warcraft.
It is built around the simple concept of friends having fun.
We are here to have fun. That means if we don't have fun something is not right.
To this end you help your guild mates because they are your guild mates.
That also means if you have a problem with someone in the guild you are expected to be adult enough to be able to solve it between the two of you.
On October 12th year 2008 we received tragic news that our beloved founder and guild leader Sectus (Morten) had passed away.
May he rest in peace.
He was a man with a big heart and showed tremendous patience and understanding towards everyone.
A great leader and gained everyone's respect and trust.
He will be sorely missed by many.
October 12th is therefore a memorial day in Origin where we pay tribute to our beloved founder.
Code of Conduct
We are here to have fun and enjoy the game, therefore:
Breaking the code of conduct will in worst case lead to guild removal.
Yet we are not unreasonable. Everyone deserves a second chance.
We however encourage:
The unwritten laws are written. A lot of things go into a guild, a lot of it is unwritten. We only want to give you a brief idea where we stand.
We expect our members to play fair and treat other players like they want to be treated themselves.
We do not favor l33t people or speak. We like to believe we are all adults and have been around the corner once or twice. This also means we don't mind a curse word here and there, but not all the time. It also means if you are easily offended Origin is most likely not the place for you, because we enjoy some humor. That doesn't mean that you have free reign to joke about everything, language barriers and different cultures means words can have very different meanings. In guildchannels we speak English as we are people of many nationalities and therefor wish to include everyone.
We require that our members use the general chats and message boards in a manner that we as a guild can be proud of.
Remain humble and polite, do not go spam you new super soaker 2000 broadsword of death in the general chats no matter how proud and happy you are with it.
All actions taken by our members reflect back on us as a guild. This means if you are acting like a moron and we find out about it that we will take what we deem to be appropriate actions.
If you join Origin we expect you to live up to the standards and keep it at that level. Anyone who tries to woo us in a "charm run" for a month and think that means they are in, will be feeling the backside of an officer boot kicking them out ass first.
One for all, all for Origin
We are not a guild of individualists but understand that we are made up by unique individuals. This is important in the sense that we cannot look at the individual when we are discussing guild matters. However we wish to make all our members feel wanted and welcome. As a guild we strive to progress together and we expect our members to remember that and not worry about individual progression.
Raids
This is why we are here! We want to raid!
We are a DKP raiding guild that raid three days a week.
Each raid member is awarded a predefined point value each hour they attend a raid at location X.
We expect our members to join raids and maintain a high raid attendance, of course RL comes first, but we will NOT tolerate people being online doing other stuff on a raid day (farming loc X with alt Y).
In other words: On official raid days we expect you to be on time and attend with your main character.
We expect members of the raid to attend our mumble voice channel for quick communication.
We raid:
3 days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Sunday:
7pm CET (6pm BST) - 11pm CET (10pm BST)
We strive not to exceed end time, but sometimes situation calls for sacrifice. We will not demand that you stay beyond, but appreciate if you do.
Can I bring alts for raids?
Not on official raid days per say.
Exceptions to this rule will not be seen often and if it should occur then it is explicitly asked for by guild leader(s).
So for instance on trivial content we have done before, officers will make an announcement if alt's are allowed on that specific raid.
Reason being that we use official raid days to progress and gear up main characters.
We do however try to arrange off day raids which are not official where alts are more than welcome.
We use these raids as a opportunity for alts to score some desirable raid loot.
However as it is unofficial, no DKP is rewarded.
We also use alternative loot rules for these raids.
Afk and Extended leaves
Since we are a semi-casual guild we are totally OK with you taking a extended afk period.
However, to help us get a feeling of what is going on, we strongly encourage the use of our AFK forum to notify us.
Reasons can be omitted since that is basically none of our business.
But a small message saying ie. "I wont be online for the next month since I'm going on vacation" or even "Not attending raid next sunday" is greatly appreciated.
We are casual but not a cemetery, so if you stay offline for 3 months without letting us know you will be removed from the guild without notice.
Also not being able to show up or being late for raid due to overtime at work or what not qualifies as a reason to throw a message in the AFK forum.
It helps us greatly to plan raids ahead and maximize efficiency and fun.
How do I join Origin?
OK, this sounds great, sign me up!
Well before you sign up please read the entire FAQ and see if you still want to join.
If you want to join Origin then we expect you to not apply to any other guild.
We also expect you not to have any alts in another guild.
This is a simple question of courtesy to everyone.
The character you apply with is considered your main character.
We also expect our members to realize the archetype they have applied as. A healer archetype will most likely be expected to heal. Exceptions can of course be made, but raid progress comes above personal preference. If for instance you are a Healer archetype that just wants to dps, this isn't the place for you.
First step to joining is to apply here
If we contact you it is because we are interested in learning more about you and possibly to offer you a spot as applicant.
If you are invited for the trial, you have 3 weeks to show your worth, while in the meantime members will post feedback on you in the member's forum.
The feedback relates to you regarding how well you play your chosen character in all instances and general social skills - i.e. how well you are fitting in, etc.
We expect from our applicants that:
After the 3 weeks is up, the feedback will be discussed by the officers and a vote taken which will decide the outcome of your trial.
This final officer discussion shall take no more than 1 week for a decision to be relayed to you on your application.
Performing an action which goes against anything posted on this charter, during or after the trial period, will result in either a termination of your trial or a reset, decided by officers.
Shiny things, I want 'em!
While you are an applicant you should never expect to receive anything.
Any item handed out while you are on trial is because we have decided to give it to you.
Can I Change Main?
As a general rule of thumb we wish that our members maintain the Archetype they are recruited as but do not want to completely rule out the opportunity for a main change.
One simple reason is that time has been invested in getting your main geared up and integrated in the running team.
However, for a main change to take place there are a few conditions that must be met:
All the listed points above will be evaluated subjectively by officers so even if you feel you meet the requirements there is no guarantee that the switch will be allowed.
So before you consider changing main be sure to contact a officer first.
How can I keep my self updated?
The FAQ, boards and MOTD are the sources of information.
Especially the board section labeled "Important Information" should be as good memorized.
Important information covers the general routines that we all most comply in order to get things running as smoothly as possible.
Raid strategies should studied every time they are updated to get an idea of how we deal with encounters.
Members can be held accountable for not complying with directives found in above mentioned sources.
Final Remark
Origin is NOT a democracy.
We expect that our members, leaders as well as applicants, are willing to contribute large or small for the good of the guild and it's members.
The reward for a good deed is the deed it self.
This the best way for a guild to prosper.
That said we wish to listen to our members therefore we greatly appreciate feedback positive as well as negative.
It helps us make the right decisions for we, the staff, also serve the guild and it's members and we ultimately want what is best for all of us.
We should all preferably enjoy our time in Telara.

Code of Conduct
We are here to have fun and enjoy the game, therefore:
- Disputes are not to be settled in guild public channels, any at all.
- If you can not settle disputes in private, notify an officer in TELLS.
- Guild chat and the board are not for moaning about someone else or to bitch in general.
- Guildchat is neither the place to discuss world events or why nation X did action Y.
- Do not engage in flames in server public channels. If someone wants to blow some steam let someone else help them out.
Breaking the code of conduct will in worst case lead to guild removal.
Yet we are not unreasonable. Everyone deserves a second chance.
We however encourage:
- Show interest, be curious, ask people how they are doing.
- Your attitude reflects guild standard. Be courteous to your fellow man/woman in and outside the guild.
- Keep a positive tone at all times, the opposite never rarely leads to anything good.
- If someone seems to be alittle down, give a little cheer. It may just make his or her day.
- Be tolerant, sometimes things just don't work out as supposed to. They will eventually as long as we keep trying.
- Keep an open mind, everyone can learn from anyone.
